Thomas F. Brown

Thomas Floyd Brown of Janesville, WI passed away after a 2 1/2 year battle with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at the age of 79, on Thursday January 11, 2024 at home surrounded by family. He was born in Janesville on July 24th 1944, the son of Merritt and Regena Brown. Tom graduated from Janesville High School in 1963. He was in the National Guard from 1963-1969.

Tom was all about family, he loved being a father of eight children and two bonus (step) daughters. Tom worked at many places: The Gazette, Murphy's Roofing and the GM plant. In 1970 he joined the Janesville Fire Department, where he enjoyed being a firefighter for 29 years. He was proud to be a second-generation firefighter. He also washed windows with his fellow firefighter Bob Boden for 36 years.

Tom married the love of his life, Lori Stewart on May 5, 2001. Tom and Lori went on many cruises and enjoyed traveling the world together. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Lori, eight children David Brown (Debbie), Laura Bettis (Andy), Michele Brown, Kevin Brown (April), Jason Brown (Julie), Gena Brophy (Mike), Andrew Brown and Brian Brown, Bonus (Step) daughters: Vicki Lochner (Chris), Lisa Slatter (Billy). Grandchildren: Samantha, Chad, Logan, Bradyn, Anna, Mason, Natalie, Austin, Aidan, Owen, MaKenna, Jakob, Caleb, Myles, Zachary. Bonus (Step) Grandchildren Lily, Lia, Jacob, Jack and Lucas. 1 Brother Chet Brown, 1 sister Joanne Shields (Clarence); 6 Brothers in law: Brad Munger, Charles Stewart (Kathleen), Richard Stewart (Kathy), James Stewart (Mercedes), Scot Stewart (Carol), Robert Stewart (Sondra), 1 sister-in-law Rebecca Menard (Mike). Tom was preceded in death by his parents Merritt and Regena Brown, 2 sisters Colleen Munger, Barb Nichols, 1 brother Dale Brown and sister-in-law Ruth Brown.

The family would like to thank Dr. Shekhani and the oncology dept. in the Mercy Michael Berry Clinic for all the TLC they gave Tom. Thank you to Dr. Hamadani and staff at Froedert and Medical College for the great care of Tom. Thanks to Mercy Hospice for the compassionate care, especially Melissa, Amy, Aiden and Steve who presented the flag and pin.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2024 at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH, 741 East High Street, Milton followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday, January 19th at the CHURCH. Rev. Dr. David J. Schnepf will officiate. Burial services will follow at Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville. Tom Brown’s family is being assisted by HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME.
