Theodore “Ted” Symons, age 87 of Janesville, WI passed away on Friday, November 17, 2023 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Madison Hospital. He was born on June 2,1936 in Benton, WI, the son of Orthell W. and Norma (Smythe) Symons.
Ted married Donna (Anderson) Symons on June 10, 1956. Three children were born of the marriage, Christine, Douglas and Judith. He was employed by General Motors for 38 ½ years.
Ted was active in numerous Masonic organizations including Past Master of Western Star Lodge # 14, Royal Arch Masons Chapter # 5, Past Commander of Janesville Commandery # 2, member of Gebal Council, Past Associate Guardian of Bethel # 21 of Job’s Daughters, Past Associate Grand Guardian of Jobs Daughters of Wisconsin and Past Patron of Janesville Chapter # 69 O.E.S. He was a member of the Janesville Conversation Club and a life member of Janesville Bowman Club.
Ted enjoyed fishing, hunting, trap shooting, camping and had a special love for fishing on the Gulf of Mexico for 25 winters.
Ted Symons is survived by his wife of 67 years, Donna Symons; son-in-law Marc Miller; grandchildren, Jessica (Mike) Symons, Clayton (Tosha) Miller, Jonathan Symons, Talon Hall; great-grandchildren, Kearstyn, CJ, and Grayson and soon to be Miles; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Karen and Lois Symons, Jerry and Sharon Vespa, Fred Anderson; many nieces, nephews and cousins, special friends in Oklahoma, and not to be forgotten, “special girlfriend” of Ted, 3 year old Ava. He was preceded in death by his three children, Christine, Douglas and Judith (Symons) Miller; his parents, brothers Gary and Philip, his in-laws, Jesse and Mildred Anderson; nephew Mark Symons and great-niece Ashley.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023 at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Burial will be at a later date in the Primitive Methodist Church Cemetery, Benton, WI. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
