Susan Lynn Nielson

October 4, 1972 — August 21, 2022

Susan Lynn Nielson, age 49, of Janesville passed away on August 21, 2022 at the UW Hospital in Madison,Wisconsin. Susan was born in Janesville on October 4, 1972, the daughter of Robert and Linda (Nielson) Hanel. She grew up in Janesville and graduated from Craig High School in 1991. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2004 and took additional classes at Madison Area Technical College. Throughout her life she lived in Rio, Pardeeville, Stoughton and Janesville. Through the years she enjoyed hanging out with friends and getting rowdy in Montello, Madison, Janesville, Waterloo and in between. She loved living life and she will be dearly missed. Susan was inspired by Lynda Carter and Wonder Woman. She believed in living vivaciously, not allowing health issues or anyone else’s thoughts to bring her down. Similar to Marilyn Monroe, Sue was a blonde bombshell. Whether she was bouncing to Kesha, making silly noises or grabbing a rear and blaming someone else, she was very lively. Sue notoriously pushed boundaries, accepted everyone, made staying connected with friends a mission and loved to make others laugh out loud. She enjoyed antiques, getting involved in home repair, going on vacations, visiting family in Minnesota, visiting Tennessee and chatting on the phone. She was proud of her house and truck, and enjoyed her friends and work family. She was hard not to notice and know. There is only one Sue and she could be a little outrageous and very silly. She was loved by many, many people, including her little dogs, Riley and Belle. Susan is survived by her mother, Linda Hanel of Janesville, her chosen sister in life, Tina, a countless number of friends, and coworkers at Exact Sciences Laboratory in Madison. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Hanel and her grandparents, the Nielson’s and Hanel’s. Her message to others was to stay positive and love people where they were. She was forgiving and caring and had a strong spirit. A celebration of Susan’s life will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 10, 2022 at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. There will be a sharing of memories at 2 p.m. for anyone who wishes to do so. At 3:00 p.m. friends are also welcome to gather together at a reserved part of Palmer Park for comfort and support. Susan’s family is being assisted by HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME.
