JANESVILLE, WIS. - Steven Meryle Mueske of Janesville, WI passed away on June 12, 2024, at age 58. Steve was born October 11, 1965, in Hillsboro, WI at St. Joseph Hospital to Meryle and Elaine (Thomas) Mueske. The family moved to Janesville shortly after his birth. Steve graduated from Joseph Craig High School in 1984. He worked at many different jobs in Janesville before moving to Madison in 1989.
Steve was married to Becky for 30 years and they have two children, Tess, 27, and Nem, 25. They lived in the Twin Cities area where Steve earned three degrees: an Associate of Arts degree from Normandale Community College, and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Hamline University in English and Creative writing.
Steve had published several books of poetry and had countless poems in literary journals. He was an accomplished musician playing guitar, bass, electric drums, and keyboards. For the last 15 years he began experimenting and writing electronic, ambient music. Steve played in several bands in the Janesville area and always enjoyed jamming with others. Steve was a gentle, sensitive soul. He was creative in many ways including writing poetry and music, and he had a love for all kinds of art. He enjoyed the beauty of nature and was very mindful of everything around him.
Steve is survived by his parents; his two children; their mom, Becky; his brother, Andy; his sister, Amy Champion; and many more friends and family.
A time to celebrate Steve’s life will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 North Wright Road, Janesville. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a time of remembrance at 2 p.m. to be followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship.
