Sophie Smith

JANESVILLE , WI - Elgena L. “Sophie” Smith, age 72 of Janesville, WI, passed away at her home on May 15, 2024. She was born in Richland Center, WI on December 27, 1951, the daughter of Delbert and Charlotte (Klock) Klingaman. She grew up in Richland Center where she graduated from high school.

Sophie married Dale L. Smith on December 9, 1979. He preceded her in death on August 15, 2006. Sophie was employed as a medical transcriptionist and was formerly employed by Mercy Hospital in Janesville.

Sophie is survived by a stepson, Matthew Smith; brother-in-law, Wes (Angie) Smith; sisters-in-law, Ginger Esposito, Jeanine and Michele Smith, Mike and Bobbi Kinkade; nieces and nephews, Jacyn (Cyndi) Klingaman, Christy (Jeff) Hodson, and Kevin (Donna) Klingaman; as well as many other nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, La-Mon (Judy) Klingaman.
