Shirley C. Scott

Shirley C. Scott, age 86, of Janesville passed away at her home on August 3, 2023. She was born in Johnstown Township, Rock County, WI on October 22, 1936, the daughter of Francis and Faye (Dickson) Henry.

Shirley was a life-long area resident and married Burl W. Scott on September 14, 1957. They farmed together in La Prairie Township for many years. She was also employed as a floral designer by Centerway Floral for 23 years.

Shirley and Burl were collectors of many antiques, most notably records with thousands recorded and listed.

Shirley will be remembered for her love of being in the kitchen baking and cooking, her love for giving away her baked goods and jams, her generosity, being stubbornly independent, her witty sense of humor and her love of all animals, especially her many dogs she had during her lifetime.

Shirley’s husband preceded her in death on February 25, 1999. She is survived by Gary Kraus who Shirley considered like a son and his family; four godchildren, Mark Benedict, Sheila (Scott) Pass, Ashley (Kleven) Hoffman and Tim Kraus. Shirley always considered her friends her family.

A special thanks to Brittany Kraus and Abbie Pass for their care of Shirley so she could remain in her home until the end.

A graveside service will be held at the EMERALD GROVE CEMETERY at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023. The service is open to any friends who wish to attend. Shirley will be laid to rest next to her beloved Burl following the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin in Shirley’s name.
