JANESVILLE - Sherman E. Anderson, age 88 of Janesville, WI passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at Agrace Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born on September 29, 1934, in Woodford, WI, the son of Simon and Erma (Brecklin) Anderson. He attended Cherry Branch rural grade school and graduated from South Wayne High School in 1952. He attended the University of Wisconsin Agriculture Short Course. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 8½ years and was a member of the 32nd Division Band.
Sherman was employed by the Farm Bureau and then for 32 years by Beloit Corporation prior to retiring.
Sherman married Helen J. Mansfield on August 2, 1958. They had two sons, Charles “Chuck” who passed away in 2022 and Paul.
Sherman was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir. He was a Barbershopper and sang in a quartet – the Rock River Harmonizers with Dennis and Mike Indgjer and Gary Johnson for 44 years. He served as an assistant scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop # 540 at Faith Lutheran Church.
Sherman is survived by his wife, Helen; son, Paul; sister, Arlene (Dennis) Lyons; and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin in Sherman’s name.
