Roy Wolfe Jr. age 98, of Janesville passed away at his home on Friday morning December 1, 2023. He was born on May 19, 1925 in New Middletown, IN, the son of Roy A. Wolfe Sr. and Louise (Vogt) Wolfe. Roy was extremely proud to have been born and raised on a farm. Spending his years growing up alongside his eight siblings, completing farm chores and raising animals.
Roy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean areas during World War II. He moved to Janesville in 1947. He married Phyllis A. Dabson on August 19, 1948. They went on to raise three children. He owned and operated service stations in Janesville until he retired in 1990. Roy was also well known as an antique dealer for over 50 years in the Janesville area.
Roy was an amazing family man with a knack for storytelling, a perfected talent at ribbing those he loved most and an ability to handcraft birthday cards that his grandchildren looked forward to each year. Roy will be remembered as a father figure to many young men through the years and they were known as “Roy’s Boy’s”. In addition, he was an avid gardener and had a love for watching college basketball games, especially his beloved Indiana Hoosiers. Roy was a life-member of Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621. Roy always knew how to make those around him feel acknowledged and accepted. He never acted his age and was our favorite character at each family function. Although we were lucky enough to have him for 98 years, we will miss him each and every day.
