It is with great sadness that the family of Rose McLaughlin of Janesville, WI announces her passing on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at the age of 87. Rose was born July 16, 1937 and was raised in Sterling,IL , the daughter of Edward and Helen McAndrews. She graduated from Newman Catholic High School and Sauk Valley Community College on June 6, 1970, in their first class of the nursing program, with a RN degree.
Rose married Richard McLaughlin and raised 4 daughters. She worked for Dr. Interone in Sterling for several years before moving to Wisconsin. Rose worked for Rock County Health Care Center and was the first RN they hired. She served as president of the nurse’s union and was a strong advocate fighting many battles for her fellow nurses.
Rose enjoyed trips to St. Petersburg Beach in Florida and spending time with friends and family.
She was a member of St. Mary’s church in Janesville, WI, and an active member of her church choir traveling with them in 1996 to Vatican City.
Rose is survived by her daughters, Julie (Doug) Johnson, Mary (Mike) Miatke, Susan (Chad) Klimaszewski, 7 grandchildren, Jennie, Garrett, Brandi, Myles, Max, Jason, and Dalton, her great grandson Grayson, her sisters Kathy and Helen, and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Richard, her daughter Marsha, her parents and her brother Leo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 23, 2024 at NATIVITY OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, August 23rd from 9:30 am to 10:30 a.m.
