Ronald Frank Cox, age 88 of Janesville passed away at his home on Wednesday March 20, 2024. He was born at home in Janesville on July 26, 1935, the son of Victor and Beulah (Ohrmundt) Cox. He was baptized in his home and confirmed at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Ron graduated from Janesville High School in 1955. He worked at the Janesville Gazette. Ron attended UW Whitewater prior to entering the U. S. Army. In 1960 he began working for Janesville Auto Transport Company from which he retired in 1996.
Ron married Deanna L. Birkholz on August 16, 1958, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He and Deanna had five children. He is survived by his wife; his children, Lynda, Timothy (Robin) Cox, David (Coleen) Cox, Andrew Cox, Rebecca Krausen; nine grandchildren Ashley Cox, Austin (Anna) Cox, Taylor Cox, Kayla (Dean) Sjostedt, Kara Cox, Rachelle (Andrew) Webster, Ryley, Ryan and Reid Krausen.
Other survivors include his sisters; Nancy (Robert) Mulford and Lorna (Brent) Schiefelbein as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law Herman and Myrtle Birkholz; his sisters-in-law Dolores Lowry, Marilyn Swanson and Barbara Libby; brothers-in-law Stanley Lowry, Charles Swanson and Jack Libby.
During his lifetime, Ron had many passions including photography, woodworking, gardening, hunting and camping with his family. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2024, at ST. MARK LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2921 Mt. Zion Avenue Janesville. Pastor Brad Urlaub and Pastor Guy Vogel will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 25th at the church. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park with military rites conducted by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621. Memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Ron’s name.
