Roger Eugene Gourley, age 90 of Janesville passed away on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 17, 1933, in Edgerton, WI, the son of William and Tilla (Heggestad) Gourley. On August 18, 1954, he was united in marriage to Dorothy M. Gokey at Cargill United Methodist Church, Janesville.
Roger served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict for two years, from 1954 to 1956. He then was employed by Woodman’s Food Market, retiring as manager of the meat department in October 1991. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion.
Roger is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Paul (Lynn) Gourley; son-in-law, Phil Suiter; five grandchildren, Theron Gates, Lindsey Gates, Eric Suiter, Anne Marie Gourley and Adam Gourley; three great-grandchildren, Talim Kjendlie, Eli and Clara Suiter. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Patti Suiter.
A visitation will be held from Noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024 at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. April 6th at the funeral home. Rev. Randy Booth will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621 following the services. Private entombment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vetsroll.org/donate in Roger’s name.
