Roger Edward Wiskia, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on June 22, 2023, at the age of 87. He was born in Janesville, Wisconsin, on July 18, 1935, to Edward A. Wiskia and Evelyn V. (Melbye) Wiskia. He was always kind, patient, and had a gentle demeanor.
Roger attended Wilson Elementary School and graduated from Janesville Senior High School. He then worked for 16 years at Mercy Hospital, where he met his wife, Judith. They were married on September 16, 1967.
He was later employed by the Janesville School District and worked for 32 years at Washington Elementary School. Roger loved talking with students and staff. He was always willing to help out in any way he could. Roger would often be out and about, and if someone recognized him, he would always stop to visit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In his free time, Roger enjoyed spending time outdoors, being with his family, especially his grandchildren and granddog Bentley, and collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia and cars. He was also a longtime fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks.
Roger is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith; daughters, Amy (Michael) Messerschmidt, Deena (Jeff) Pluhar, Tammy Wiskia and Heidi (Victor) Corro; grandchildren, Andrea Corro and Gabriel Corro; brother, James Wiskia (Monette); many nieces and nephews; and a wonderful friend and former co-worker, Sue Lynch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Evelyn Wiskia; brothers, Donald and Robert Wiskia; and sister-in-law, Laurene Wiskia.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, June 30, 2023, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 North Wright Road, Janesville. Rev. Lee A. Meissner will officiate. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM on Friday, June 30, at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
