Robert "Bob" James Woodman

July 12, 1941 — February 12, 2025

Robert “Bob” James Woodman of Janesville passed away on February 12, 2025. Bob was born on July 12, 1941, and raised in Janesville, where he graduated from Janesville Senior High School in1959. A talented athlete, he wrestled at the state level and later continued his education at UW-Madison’s Agriculture Short Course. From a young age, he was deeply involved in agriculture, participating as a proud member of both 4-H and FFA.

A third-generation Guernsey dairy farmer in LaPrairie Township, Bob took immense pride in his work. He cherished being part of the Guernsey farming community and looked forward to the annual conventions and state fairs, where he could swap stories and share his passion with fellow farmers.

Bob and his beloved wife, Jane (Tanda) Woodman, shared 51 wonderful years together. They found joy in simple pleasures - taking scenic car rides to visit family and friends, marveling at the autumn colors, and exploring the breathtaking landscapes of the Rocky Mountains and Yellowstone National Park.

With a warm heart and a great sense of humor, Bob loved making people laugh. He was famous for his collection of “silly dad jokes.” His jokes and funny faces earned him the affectionate nickname “Grandpa Goofy” from his grandchildren. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, whether cheering on his children and grandchildren at sporting events or simply enjoying their company.

Bob’s kindness, humor, and dedication to family and farming will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Jane Woodman; children, Ron (Kathi), Bobby (Vicki), and Randy Woodman, Tim (Patti), Todd, and Tobin Soyck, Lorrie Jensen, and Mary Carol Cross; grandchildren, Joe (Emily), Zach, and Ellie Woodman, Molly, Anna, and Ben Soyck, Tanner and Taylor Woodman, Tyler and Kyle (Aubree) Jensen, Megan (Andrea) Borray Ortiz, and Braeden and Presley Cross; great-grandchildren Kailani and Maxen; and siblings Nancy Guse and Joan (Chuck) Hegg.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jenny Larrivee, and parents, Ivan and Irene Woodman.
