Robert A. Bloedel

Robert Allen Bloedel, age 93, of Janesville died on December 12, 2019 at Our House Memory Care. He was born February 18, 1926 in Janesville, the son of Walter and Martha (Thom) Bloedel. Bob graduated from Janesville High School in 1944. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the USS New Mexico from 1944 to 1946. He married Betty C. Abraham on September 18, 1948. Bob was employed as a substation inspector by Wisconsin Power & Light Company (Alliant Energy) for many years. Following retirement, he was employed part-time as a truck driver by MacFarlane Pheasant Farm. He and Betty enjoyed hauling pheasants to many states in the Midwest, as well as, to Florida. Bob enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the Wisconsin Power & Light Company Retirees. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Betty Bloedel; daughter, Susan Klein; sister, Ruth (John) Kannengeiser; a nephew, Bill (Shari) Bobzien; nieces, Cheryl (Greg) Richter, Linda (Malcolm) Dougherty, and Sandy (Joe) Sagona; a great-niece and great-nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Matt Klein; sister, Marcella; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat and Don Bobzien. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1442 Center Avenue, Janesville. Services will follow at 12 noon on Thursday at the Church. Rev. Bruce Gray will officiate. Following the services, military rites will be conducted by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post #1621. A luncheon will follow at the church. Private interment will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or Agrace Hospice.
