Richard (Dick) Alan Angilello, age 73 of Brodhead, WI and Janesville, WI, passed away on Tuesday, March 26 due to complications from Multiple Sclerosis. He was born on June 8, 1950 to parents, Sam and Marion (Lomoro) Angilello, in Janesville, Wisconsin.
Richard graduated from Parker Senior High School, class of 1968. He worked as an auto mechanic at Everhart-O’Leary Motors in Janesville and then decided that he needed an adventure. He pulled up stakes and moved to the Los Angeles, CA area in the early 1970’s to join his brother, Carl. Within a short amount of time, however, he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and moved back to Janesville in 1976. He lived at home as he found out how to continue to live his life while living with a disease that was little understood at the time.
Living a full life and not being defined by his disease was very important to him. He continued to work part time as an auto parts salesman at Sears Roebuck & Co and started the M.S. (Mutual Strength) Support Group, an organization for individuals with M.S. Most importantly, through his faith, he lived with M.S. for 50 years. Hanging in his room, a framed quote reads, “It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes.” (Psalm 119:71)
He leaves behind his five siblings, Carl (Sara) Angilello, Woodstock, GA; Phyllis Byrne, Janesville, WI; Sam (Diane) Angilello, Hartford, WI; Christine Scott (Darien, WI); and Pete Angilello (Terry Price) of Green Bay, WI; nieces Jennifer and Tara, nephews Tony, Patrick, Dominic, Michael, Nicholas and Christopher; great-nieces and great nephews, cousins and good friends in both the Brodhead and Janesville area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Marion, his infant brother, Carmello and brothers-in-law, Dick Byrne, Tom Scott and Jim Rivett.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday April 10, 2024, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville.
