Richard Allen Meyer, 70 of Janesville WI passed away at his home on May 25, 2024, following a short illness with cancer. He was born in Elkhorn, WI on September 11, 1953, the son of Gilbert “Ole” and Helen (Head) Meyer. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1971. He attended Blackhawk Technical College where he later taught the CNC machinist course. Richard married Lucille “Tootie” Ostram on September 14, 1974.
Richard was employed as a machinist by Beloit Corporation and later by Versa Tool, Beloit from which he retired. He also owned and operated a sports card shop in Janesville, Sanman & Rick’s. He was an avid collector of memorabilia including comics and superhero figurines. Richard was a great lover of music and enjoyed collecting music memorabilia also.
Richard is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Lucy “Tootie” Meyer; children, Rick (Nikki) Meyer, Melissa (Shawn) Zimmerman; grandson Colyn Weber Meyer; brother Steve (Joni) Meyer; sisters-in-law Pattie (Stan) Christenson, Dorothy (Marc) Franklin, Teresa (Len) Purdy, Margaret Jones; brother-in-law Bob (Kay) Ostram; numerous nieces and nephews and his two beloved pets, Rudy and Peanut Butter.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert “Ole” and Helen Meyer; nephew Tyler Meyer; father-in-law Fred Ostram; mother-in-law Agnes Ostram Disch; step father-in-law Dick Disch and brother in-law Fred Ostram Jr.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2024, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Services will follow at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 8th at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME. Online condolences are welcome at www.henkeclarson.com.
