Phillip John Pernot, age 95, of Janesville passed away at Cedar Crest on Saturday, January 18, 2025. He was born on April 26, 1929, and grew up on a farm near Brooklyn, WI. He was the son of Davis and Alice (Reider) Pernot. He attended a one room school near Brooklyn and graduated from Brooklyn High School.
Phillip was employed by the City of Janesville Street Department and later by the Water Department for over 30 years. He was also well known for owning and operating Phil’s Sewer Cleaning for many years, continuing to operate the business into his 80’s. Having grown up on a farm, Phil always enjoyed the outdoors and especially liked hunting, fishing and gardening. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife Eva. He was an avid fan of Wisconsin sports teams and was especially fond of the Brewers. Phil was a founding member of Asbury United Methodist Church and a member of Moose Lodge # 197.
Phil was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean Pernot. Following her death, he married Eva Starks on January 7, 1961, she preceded him in death on August 22, 2017. He is also preceded in death by his son, Dewey, his parents, siblings Keith, Darus, Lyman, Donald, Dale and Diane; brother-in-law, Richard Behnke; sister-in-law Veryl Pernot.
Phil Pernot is survived by four children; Deb Dooley, Lee (Cindy) Pernot, Laurie Pernot and Phyllis (Mike) Gackstatter; grandchildren, Matt, Derek, Mitchell (Rachel), Sarah, Daniel, Kathryn (Russ), Kylor, Kristin, Phillip (Alisha), Amanda, Jenna; great-grandchildren; Aryiana, Steven, Samuel, Andie, Karlie, Charlotte, Ryatt, Konnor and Gus. brothers, David Pernot; Dean (Shirley) Pernot; sisters, Bette (Dan) Kull and Mardell Behnke; sisters-in-law, Dolly Pernot and Audrey Pernot.
Phil’s family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at Cedar Crest for the wonderful care he received.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Burial will follow in Milton Lawns Memorial Park.
