Pamela Jean Casiday of Janesville died at Huntington Memory Care on July 15, 2024.
Pam was born at Mercy Hospital, Janesville on 12-23-1948. The first-born child of parents, Jay Pearsall and Florence (Rowland) Pearsall. Pam graduated from high school in Janesville in 1967. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a bachelor’s degree in 1971. After graduating Pam became employed at Rock County Social Services. She held her position as a social worker until her retirement in 2011.
Pam married Alan Christensen in Janesville in June of 1970. The couple later adopted two brothers, Brian and Peter. The marriage ended in 1992. Pam married Robert G. Casiday, her soul mate, in Milton, Wisconsin in December of 1996. Robert and Pam enjoyed and shared many hobbies. Their favorite vacation trip was to Las Vegas.
Pam had many interests including gardening, growing herbs, baking, rummage sailing, volunteer work and her dogs. German Shepherds were her special love. She had many stories to tell about the dogs in her life. Banna, Sasha, Rocky, Oreo, Butch, Lea and Sohum. Pam followed the Chicago Cubs every season. Her great joy in recent years was to live long enough to see the Cubs win another World Series in 2016. Pam was an umpire in her younger years for Girl Scouts of Badger Council. In 2002 the Council recognized her for all her donated time.
As a young woman Pam was advocating for sexual abuse victims. As a social worker she advocated for AIDS patients.
Pam worked hard to keep her home, yard, neighborhood and city in the best shape. Her neighbors knew her as she made friends walking her dog Lea. She enjoyed baking treats for her neighbors which she delivered to their door. Anyone who knew Pam well knows she loved to drink Diet Pepsi. She never wanted to run out of Diet Pepsi. Pam was a generous and energetic volunteer worker. The groups she belonged to included Rock County Coalition on Cancer, Friends of Riverside Park, and Mercy Hospital Systems Hospice. She served on the board for Senior Services of Rock County.
Pam is survived by her sons, Brian and Peter Christensen and her sister Jaydene Geiger. Pam had three special friends, Lucinda Dean of Whitewater, Cynthia Wilson of Beloit, and Terri Anderson of Janesville who were by her side during her rapid health decline in the past eleven months.
In lieu of other expressions of remembrance memorials in Pam’s name can be made to Friends of Riverside Park or Wisconsin Vest A Dog Program.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville, Rev. Elizabeth Green will officiate. Please meet at 10:45 a.m. that day near the North Washington Street entrance to Oak Hill Cemetery to process to the grave site.
