Nancy Lee Baker, age 77, of Janesville, WI passed away on February 26, 2025 at Prairie View Manor Assisted Living, Footville, WI. She was born in Lyons, NY on December 16, 1947, the youngest of 10 children of George and Bertha (Klaver) Heineman. She married Douglas R. Baker on July 9, 1966. When Nancy’s oldest sister died, she took in her niece Karen Johnson who was age 15 and they moved to Wisconsin in 1978.
When Nancy was in New York, she taught school bus driving and continued to do so after moving to Wisconsin. Nancy will be remembered for her love of animals. She ran a St. Bernard rescue for several years.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Baker on January 20, 2024. Her parents and all of her siblings also preceded her in death. Nancy is survived by Karen (Fred) Johnson; grandnephew John (Cassandra) Eisele; great-grandnephews Ian Lawson, Brandon Phillips, Jacob (Kayla-deceased) Johnson; Lisa Nordness and family; numerous nieces and nephews.
No services will be held at this time but at a later date, Nancy and her husband. Douglas will be entombed in the mausoleum at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, WI.
