Linda Grace Gumble, age 79, of Shopiere, WI passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, December 13, 2022. She was born in Janesville on September 29, 1943, the daughter of Philip and Marion (Dorr) Yuengst. She grew up in Janesville and graduated from Janesville Senior High School.
Linda married Richard W. Gumble on August 12, 1961. Their family included five children: Elaine, Scott, Carrie, Joel and Seth. Linda was a homemaker until the children were grown. She then attended Blackhawk Technical College where she received a degree in nursing. After completing school, she was employed at Mercy Clinic East in Janesville where she worked for twenty-five years until retiring.
Linda was an avid reader and Packers fan who enjoyed crossword puzzles, Jeopardy and crafting. She was known as a wonderful cook and baker. She took great joy in family get-togethers, especially when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a part of the gatherings, where she was known as the Grandest of Mothers.
Linda is survived by her husband, Richard Gumble; children: Elaine Gumble, Scott (Barb) Gumble, Carrie Gumble, Joel (Joyce) Gumble, and Seth (Amanda) Gumble; grandchildren: Rachel, Leah, Marissa, Mollie, Jeffery, Cory, Addam, Rory, Kyle, Maximilian, Cameron, Sophie, and Alexander; great-grandchildren, Ameleah, Lillian, Jenna, Talia, Ramsey, Jett, and Macey Mae who is on the way; sisters: Cathleen Phetteplace, Colleen Schroeder, and Debra (Doug) Saide. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Bradley Gumble.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, December 19, 2022, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Chaplain Mark Maxted of Beloit Regional Hospice will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from on Monday, December 19th, from 10 a.m. until the time of services at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME.
