Juanita D. Mowry

March 9, 1940 — April 15, 2025

Juanita Diane Mowry, 85, a lifelong Janesville resident, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 9, 1940, to Lawrence and Edith (Salsgiver) Wanninger. On February 5, 1955, she married Thomas C. Mowry.

Juanita was an incredibly loving daughter, wife, mother, and homemaker, raising seven children with her husband. She made wedding cakes, sewed, played violin and piano, taught others to enjoy arts and crafts, but most passionately enjoyed sharing about God’s love and the difference it makes to have the assurance of salvation through simple faith in the work already done by the Lord Jesus Christ. Juanita worshipped the Lord with fellow Christians at the Black Earth and Brodhead Gospel Halls for many years. She will be remembered for her love of God, family, sharing God with others, and her enjoyment of working with children—as she and her husband, Tom, did for 20+ years in their home with weekly Children’s Meetings. Juanita would have liked you to ask yourself: what assurance do I have of being in Heaven for Eternity? Have I accepted the forgiveness that God offers me, which was paid for by the death of Christ?

Juanita is survived by her sister, Connie Glowacki; brother-in-law, Nelson (Bonnie) Mowry; children, Ron (Connie) Mowry, Jim (Paula) Mowry, Linda (Bob) Hardie, Brenda Maas, Leah (Steve) Abbott, Rachel (JT) Sterk, and Lydia (Whit) Harman—all of Janesville; grandchildren, Dave (Sarah) Mowry, Dan (Jamie) Mowry, Tessa (Stefanie) Mosryn, Jenni (Jeff) Brady, Elizabeth (James) Ellis, Tim Hardie, Emily (Colton) Rains, Joel (Quinn) MacDonald, Benjamin Abbott, Grace Abbott, Ti Sterk, Gus Sterk, Caleb Sterk, Elijah Harman, and Esther Harman. There are also 14 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. Juanita was very proud of her family and enjoyed having family time whenever possible. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Tom, in 2016; her parents; sister, Betty Kurth; grandson, Micah MacDonald; and sister-in-law, Norma Merrick-Selgren.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, April 25, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10 a.m. following visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral at BETHEL CHURCH, 3300 Mt. Zion Avenue, Janesville. Entombment will be held at Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville. The funeral will be officiated by Juanita and Tom’s close friends, Jerry Jennings and Mike Wenger. At Milton Lawns, Joel Portman, another close friend, will give a brief message.

Special thanks to Leah for providing care for Mom each night that she was home since January; also, to the caring staff from Agrace Hospice and Home Instead, who provided care for Juanita, enabling her to stay in her own home these last few months.
