Josephine Ann Chesmore, age 82, a long-time Janesville resident, died on October 24, 2021, at her daughter’s home in Oconto, WI. She was born in Beloit on May 3, 1939, the daughter of Donald and Maxine (Carey) Madsen. She was a Janesville High School graduate. Josephine married Raymond E. Chesmore Sr. on November 17, 1956 and they divorced many years later. She was employed as a nursing assistant for 32 years by Rock County. She enjoyed many hobbies and interests. Her appreciation for all types of music, especially a cool guitar riff, was shared with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed singing with the Daylilies A Cappella Chorus for several years. She was a passionate gardener and spent many hours working in and admiring her Hosta gardens at her home in Janesville. She had a talent for crocheting and needlework, was an avid bird watcher, and American history buff. She was an attentive grandmother and great-grandmother and cherished the time she had with her “sweethearts”. Josephine moved to Oconto, WI a year and a half ago to reside with her youngest daughter, Michelle, where she received much loving care. Josephine is survived by her children: Raymond (Tina) Chesmore Jr., Cynthia Hovorka, Richard Chesmore, Christine Bohn, Gerald (Melinda) Chesmore, Michelle (Jay Tourtillott) Palmateer, Bradley (Jodi) Chesmore; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Gerald (Judith) Madsen, Sue Brown, Robert (Cheri) Madsen, Thomas (Linda) Madsen, Mary Carothers, nieces, nephews, numerous other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Chesmore, and her parents. A visitation will be held from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2021 at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 North Wright Road, Janesville. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 29th at Bethel Cemetery, Center Township. Her grandson, David Hovorka II will preside. HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family.
