Janet M. Klawes

Janet M. Klawes, age 85 of Caldwell, WI passed away at her home on June 11,2023. She was born on November 6, 1937 in Postville, IA, the daughter of Harvey and Charlotte (Witt) Schave. Her family moved to Janesville, WI where she grew up and attended school.

Janet married Lawrence R. Klawes on October 15, 1955 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Janesville. The family moved to Kenosha and later settled in Burlington, WI where they resided for many years. In addition to being a homemaker, Janet babysat many children thru the years and the children she babysat for were treated as extended family. She was known in the area as “The Babysitter.” In 2012, Janet and Lawrence moved to Caldwell, WI. He passed away on November 11, 2016.

Janet is survived by daughters; Lori (Darwin) Pahl, Patti (Tom) Clarey, Cindy Klawes; grandchildren Bradley (Sheryl) Klawes, Peter Jalensky, Kristina (Joshua) Dunn, Ashley (Jesse) Stewart, Joseph (Jayme) Clarey, Jessica Clarey, Jon (Deidra) Pahl, Meranda Pahl; great-grandchildren, Brenton, Brody, Grace, Jennifer, Harold, Collin, Savannah, Nicholas; great-great grandson, Will; sister, Karen King; brothers and sisters-in-law, Virginia Carpenter, Susan Klawes, Daniel and Barb Peplinski, Randy and Darlis Klawes, Lucy Klawes, Ruthann and Roger O’Day, Gordon Klawes, Neale LeMense; many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband; parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; sisters Arlene LeMense and Connie Schave; brothers, David Schaffe, Roger Schave, Arthur Schave; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, John King, Allen Klawes, Bonnie Tirado, William Klawes, Dennis Klawes and David Klawes.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the CALDWELL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 8504 Caldwell Road, Mukwonago, WI.
