JANESVILLE - Janet Marlene (Ziwisky) “Cricket” Hemming, age 82 of Janesville, passed away on March 9, 2024, at Mercyhealth Hospital & Trauma Center. She was born on May 8, 1941, in Oconomowoc, WI, the daughter of Alex and Anna (Nozel) Ziwisky. She graduated from Cadott High School in 1959.


Janet married James Hemming on May 19, 1979. She was the #1 founder of the Dirty Dozen CB Club – nickname Cricket. Janet was the first woman in the United States to own a Trucking Brokerage Company – JMH Truck Brokerage. She received a letter from President Jimmy Carter congratulating her on the honor. Janet loved birds and all animals and will be remembered for love of the color purple.


Janet is survived by her husband, James Hemming; children, Melody Allred (Don Cassels), Mark Craker (Denise Kingslien), Kellie Everhart, Earl Craker (Julie Fanis), Marianne (Rich) Walker, and Patrick (Janet) Hemming; grandchildren, James Allred (Kerry Green), Billie Ann Elmhorst, Amanda (Jay) Harilal, Alex (Tierney) Craker, Brieanne Carrin, Spencer Craker, and Alexandra Craker; great-grandchildren, Riley, Dean, Chloe, Hunter, Liam and Maisie; sister-in-law, Marianne Hemming; and special friends, Todd Kaiser, and Bonnie and Vick Miller.


Janet is preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Anna Ziwisky; son-in-law, Dean Everhart; son, Stephen Hemming; in-laws, Betty, Jack and Mark Hemming; and special niece, Sue Ludeking.


Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville with services to follow at 11 a.m. March 27th at the FUNERAL HOME.
