James “Jim” Lee Short, age 76, of Janesville, WI passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024. Jim was born in Janesville on January 13, 1948, the son of Kenneth and Elsie (Arnold) Short. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1966 and apprenticed as an automotive mechanic.
Jim married Lynda R. Bernstein on May 25, 1968. He worked as a mechanic at Rock County Buick for several years. He was employed by Blain’s Supply, Inc. as a Shop Superintendent for over 30 years. He was currently working for Porter's Lawn & Power Equipment.
Jim enjoyed helping his wife, Lynda, maintain their lawn and gardens and defending those gardens from the herd of deer that frequented the neighborhood. He was sure to include his girls in yard work, gardening, automotive repairs, and instill a strong work ethic in them. He was also a lifelong NASCAR, Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin Badgers fan. He was a lifelong member of Cargill United Methodist Church.
Jim Short is survived by two daughters, Michelle Short of Armada, MI, and Jenn (Dan) Koetz of Green Bay, WI; granddaughters, Elizabeth (Brandon) Moreno of Armada, MI; Thirzah Koetz of Green Bay, great-granddaughters, Hadley and Cheyenne Moreno; sister, Mary Lou Wilber of Bradenton, FL; and brother, Larry (Shari) Short of Kenosha. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Lynda Short.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 North Wright Road, Janesville and on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 10 to 11 a.m. at CARGILL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 2000 Wesley Avenue, Janesville, Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 15th at the CHURCH with Rev. Amy Powell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the medical staff and care team at Mercy Health Hospital and Trauma Center, Mercyhealth Hospice, and Rock Haven for their care, compassion and grace during a difficult time.
