Beloved – Daughter - Sister - Nurse - Wife - Mother Née Hilaria Santiago de los Santos, born to Anastasia (mother) and Melecio (father). Hilaria died peacefully and suddenly at home, Sunday noon hour, despite gallant efforts of the MPD and Milton EMTs, and the ER at Mercy Hospital. Hilaria had many health challenges in later years. Born in the rural, rice-producing barrios of the Philippines, Calipayan, Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac, she endured the ravages of wartime occupation of her homeland. Her mother died early in life. In 1956, Hilaria graduated from Sta. Ignacia Academy, as valedictorian, earning two gold medals. Hilaria attended Far Eastern University in Manila, then worked at a small mission hospital in Cagayan Valley in northern Luzon. Later she was able to attend nursing school in Portland, Oregon, and afterwards at Walla Walla College, in Washington. She married Roger in September 1966 at Santiago, Isabela, Luzon. In 1967, they moved to Hawai’i, where they purchased their first home and were blessed with three children. She worked at The Queen’s Hospital, the premier civilian hospital in the Pacific. In 1978, the family moved to Wisconsin for both better employment and education for the children. Hilaria worked for many years at Rock Haven, in Janesville, where she retired. A lifelong lover of music, she had a piano and other musical instruments. In her younger years she sang solos in church. Hilaria was a strong believer in education. She is survived by Roger and three daughters, who all reside out of state; as well as many relations here and abroad. Private services were held at her interment in Milton Cemetery on July 15. May God bless. ALOHA
