JANESVILLE - Harry C. Menz, age 100, of Janesville passed away on January 26, 2024, at the Agrace Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born on September 18, 1923, in Aurora, IL, the son of Gunther and Ethel (Martin) Menz. He grew up in the Aurora area. He was a member of the U.S. Army during World War II and served at the Battle of the Bulge.
Harry married Phyllis J. West on September 15, 1945. He was employed by General Motors for 30 years and was a member of U.A.W. Local # 95 Retirees. He was a member of Cargill United Methodist Church for 50 years and later joined Trinity Free Lutheran Church. He was an active volunteer with ECHO, the Janesville school breakfast program and Meals on Wheels. He was a proud member of the 35th Division of the U.S. Army.
Harry Menz is survived by three daughters, Bonnie (Nelson) Mowry, Judy (Kevin) Manz, and Toni (Jim) Kelly; grandchildren, Teresa (Stephen) Riesterer, Sarah (Keith) Paul, Bryan (Ann Dingman) Mowry, Heidi (Jason) Graf, Nathan Manz, Becky Kelly, and John (Lea) Discher; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Menz on April 22, 2014. In addition to his parents, Harry was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Warner; his grandson, Jeremy Manz; brothers, Arthur Menz and Kenneth Menz; sisters, Margaret Havlik and Evelyn Menz.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday February 1, 2024, at TRINITY FREE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2727 Holiday Drive, Janesville with Pastor Jon Benson officiating. Burial with military rites by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621 will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday Feb. 1st. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Harry’s name to Agrace Hospice, 2901 N. Wright Road, Janesville, WI 53546.
