Gerald C. Gray

Gerald C. “Jerry” Gray, age 88 of Janesville passed away at Cedar Crest on Saturday, October 14, 2023. He was born in Janesville on August 12, 1935, the son of Harry and Bertha (Powers) Gray.

Jerry married Mary Lou Schaitel and they were blessed with two children, Rick and Cheryl. Mary Lou preceded him in death in 1986. He married Ruth (Kraemer) Burnside on February 28, 1993.

Jerry was formerly employed by Marling Lumber Company and later worked at General Motors in Janesville for 30 years prior to retiring. He was a member of U.A.W. Local # 95.

Jerry will be remembered for the many horses he raised and for his love of all things western. He and Ruth enjoyed traveling especially to the western part of the United States.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Rick Gray of Milton, Cheryl (Steve) Elliott of Milton; step-children, Randall Burnside, Teresa (Mark) Nighbor, David (Renee) Burnside; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sister, Delores Van Galder; sister-in-law, Joyce Gray.

In addition to his first wife, Mary Lou Gray and his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Allen Gray and Robert Gray.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 19, 2023, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Visitation will be at the FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, October 19th from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at a later date in Milton Lawns Memorial Park.
