Deborah Lynn Hess

Deborah Lynn Hess, age 70 of Janesville passed away on January 24, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home. She was born in Janesville on September 22,1953 the daughter of Thomas V. and Phyllis (Sarow) Cantwell. She grew up in the Edgerton area and graduated from Edgerton High School in 1971.

Deborah was formerly married to Tobin Hess and they had two sons, Mike and Steve. She has been a resident of Janesville since 1988. She retired from General Motors.

Deborah enjoyed gardening, especially raising pumpkins for her grandchildren. She enjoyed music, especially playing the piano. Deborah will be remembered for her kind-hearted nature who loved saying yes to anyone in need. One of her favorite activities was donating to her favorite charities. Above all else, spending time with her grandchildren gave her great joy. She enjoyed the comfort of her cat, Hope.

Deborah is survived by her sons; Michael (Julia) Hess, Steven (Heather) Hess; her grandchildren, Charles, Ruth, Calvin and Sara; her mother, Phyllis Cantwell; her sister, Pamela Phillips; her brother, Timothy (Leanne) Cantwell; her former husband, Tobin Hess; her nephews, Dennis (Debbie) Phillips II, Ryan (Lisa) Cantwell, Ross (Korie) Cantwell; uncle Jerry Sarow; aunts, Pat Miller, Carol Kingsley, Karen Sarow, Kay Miles; Shirley Cantwell and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas V. Cantwell and her brother-in-law, Dennis Phillips.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Funeral services will follow at Noon Feb. 9th at the FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Dennis Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
