Craig L. Madson, age 73 of Clinton, WI, passed away at his home on August 20, 2024. He was born in Milwaukee, on March 13, 1951, the son of Jack and Lorraine (Christianson) Madson. Craig moved to Clinton at the time his mother married Kenneth Little. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1969 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from UW-Stevens Point in 1973.
Craig met his future wife, Yoshiko “Yo” Sugita when he traveled to Japan to visit his father who was residing there. Craig and Yo married in Clinton in 1975. Two children were born of the marriage, son Taka, and daughter, Nikki. Following graduation from college, Craig went to work for his stepfather’s business, Little Limestone Company and he continued his association with the company until his retirement due to health issues. Craig enjoyed his time there and especially enjoyed being a heavy equipment operator and crushing limestone.
Craig was an avid fisherman. He especially enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin at the Turtle Flambeau Flowage as well as on Delavan area lakes. He took many trips to Marathon in the Keys of Florida to do ocean fishing over the years. His love of fishing continued during his disability as he enjoyed fishing on Delavan Lake.
Craig is survived by his wife of 49 years, Yo; son, Taka Madson of Oshkosh, WI; daughter, Nikki (Jerome) Padilla of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren Zenzo, Koan and Mirai Padilla; brother, Mark Madson of Clinton; nephew, Luke (Lindsey) Madson; niece, Laura (Mitch) Johnson; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews all in Japan; and a special friend, Brad DeLong. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Madson; his mother, Lorraine “Lorry” Little; and his stepfather, Kenneth “Hap” Little.
A visitation of remembrance will be held from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Pastor Bill Whitford will preside for a time of sharing to follow at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 31st at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Beloit Regional Hospice.
