Barbara Knopes (1942-2024) - A Life Filled with Love and Family

Barbara Knopes, of Janesville, WI, daughter of Robert and Mary Kettleson, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and fostering angel, passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones on May 19, 2024, in Janesville, Wisconsin. She leaves behind a rich legacy of 82 years, marked by a deep love for her family, a strong faith, and a passion for nurturing children.

Barbara's life was a testament to the enduring power of love. Married for 64 cherished years to her husband, Dennis Knopes, theirs was a partnership built on mutual respect and unwavering devotion. Together, they raised a loving family, including their six children: Denise Bonk (Tom), Kim Knopes, Steve Knopes (Penny), Chris Knopes, Jennifer Caldwell, and Jason Knopes (Awilda). She is survived by her brother, Larry Kettleson.

Barbara's nurturing spirit extended far beyond her immediate family. She opened her heart and home to countless children through foster care and childcare, becoming an angel to many. Her kindness and patience touched the lives of all who knew her.

Barbara will be deeply missed by her husband, Dennis, their children and their families: Denise, Kim, Steve, Chris, Jennifer, and Jason, her grandchildren Abbey, Ben, Joey, Andrew, Kyle, Kennedy, Katrina, Isabelle, Edgar, and all whose lives she touched.

The family will have a private celebration of life. Charitable contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause she cared deeply about, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping children in need.
