Barbara Ann Heffron, “GBarb”, “Nanny”, age 80, of Milton, WI passed away at Mercyhealth Hospital, Janesville surrounded by her family on December 4, 2024. Barbara was born on February 24, 1944, in Sheboygan, WI, the daughter of Harold and Marvel (Gilbertson) Meyer. She grew up in Sheboygan and Menomonee Falls, WI and graduated from Menomonee Falls North High School. Barb married Eddie Heffron in 1962 and they moved to Brookfield where together they raised their two children, Leann and Dawn.
Barb attended Waukesha County Technical College where she received an associate’s degree then worked as a medical transcriptionist and assistant for Miller, Tyne, Cummings and Wood Orthopedic Group. She retired when working for Rausch, Sturm, Israel, Enerson and Hornik Law Office. She resided in West Allis where she served as a poll worker for many years and was an active member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brookfield, where she treasured many friendships. Barb moved to Milton six years ago to be closer to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. One of her greatest joys was helping to care for two of her great grandchildren every Thursday. Weekly dinners and card games with her daughters and sons-in-law at her apartment were cherished family time. Since moving to Milton, she regularly attended Faith Community Church in Janesville, along with her family.
Barb enjoyed being surrounded by dear friends at the Gathering Place in Milton and especially enjoyed a good game of Canasta. Hummingbirds were a favorite pastime, and she enjoyed learning about their migratory patterns and watching them drink from her feeders. She was a devoted Christian and often reminded people that God has a plan for each of us to discover and would frequently share, “Thy will be done, not my will be done”.
Barbara Heffron is survived by her daughters, Leann (Scott) Wasemiller and Dawn (Roger) Jensen; grandchildren, Alex (Christin) Wasemiller, Haley (Shaun) Cabral, Kyle Jensen, Julia (Austin) Armstrong, Jessica Jensen, Rebecca (Jake) Mueller and Bo Sheffield; great-grandchildren, Payton (9), Stella (7), Ellis (5), Arbor (3), Lillya (2), Felix (1), Ridge (1), Luke (1), Rylie (6m), and her sassy beloved cat, Sugar. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her brother, Henry Meyer and her sister Karen Haecker.
As a big supporter of the Milwaukee Rescue Mission (milmission.org), Barb would prefer memorial gifts to this organization rather than gifts of flowers or plants.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 27 at FAITH COMMUNITY CHURCH, 2931 Lucerne Dr., Janesville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Lunch will be served following the service.
