Wilmer J. Herr

Wilmer J. Herr Jr., age 78, of Janesville passed away on July 4, 2018 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison. He was born May 1, 1940 in Oconomowoc, WI the son of Wilmer Sr. and Alma (Abraham) Herr. Wilmer served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps from August 19, 1957 to August 18, 1960. He was employed as a night watchman by the Parker Pen Company from 1960 until 1983. In the 1980’s Wilmer did a comedian act and was known as Jimmy Vance, the comedian.

 

He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Herr and Todd (Valerie) Herr, grandchildren, Justin and Katelyn Herr, Malena Herr and David Dix, a great-grandchild, JJ Mains, his siblings, Joyce Eisley, Ramona Muzzy, Phyllis Onsgard and Don Herr. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Shirley Graf and Patricia Eisley.

 

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 Monday, July 9, 2018 at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville to be concluded by military rites by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621. Private entombment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery Columbarium at a later date.
