M. Virginia Rismeyer

M. Virginia Rismeyer age 83 of Machesney Park, IL, a former long-time Janesville area resident died on June 26, 2017, due to a long term illness, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford Illinois. Virg was the daughter of Carl and Concetta Carta born on January 26, 1934 in Janesville Wisconsin. Virg attended Janesville High School graduating in 1952. While in high school she was on a cheerleading squad she enjoyed. Virg married Paul A. Rismeyer (teenage sweetheart) at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on May 4, 1957. Before graduating Virg was employed by Fox Theaters and French Slippers Shop. After graduation she was employed by Gibbs Manufacturing and Research. Later Virg was employed by The Parker Pen Company and retired in 1985. She enjoyed working and even after retirement she worked at a few part time jobs just to keep busy. She wasn’t one to sit and do nothing. She was very active and enjoyed her life. Virg enjoyed tennis, dancing, playing cards, reading books, cooking, exercising, church and many more activities. She enjoyed going up to her lake house on the Petenwell Flowage that her and Paul retired at. They eventually did move to Beloit to be closer to family. Virg was a woman many people admired and brought joy to people’s lives. She was both beautiful inside and out. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. She loved her family and friends very much. She always was happy and always smiling even with her health issues and trials she faced. She was a very positive strong woman who loved life. She will be dearly missed and loved by many, but especially by her daughter/best friend and grandson. Survivors include her daughter Linda K. McCallen & grandson Zachary D. McCallen (both of Machesney Park, IL), her sister Josephine Glass of Connecticut, and her brother Jim (Jean) Carta of Janesville as well as nieces and nephews. Virg was preceded in death by her husband Paul A. Rismeyer (November 16, 2008), her 2 sons David P. Rismeyer (December 14, 2010) & Michael S. Rismeyer (July 5, 2011), and her sister Lillian M.
